The Merchants of War (MOW) is an unplayable faction in Risk Malaysia. They are a syndicate of smugglers and arms dealers who sell weapons and technologies not available in the public market. They appear in-game as travelling merchants selling military grade goods at ridiculous prices all over Malaysia.

History
The MOW began as a startup involving the grey market in Malaysia, but it turned lucrative enough that it was bought over by a shady Russian enterprise Rotikaya Mafiya who later turned it into a full-fledged arms dealing entity.

After the great economic collapse, the MOW moved in and supplied the needed weapons and provisions to take advantage of the newly formed war economy. MOW Trucks patrol the East and West Malaysian major highways to cater all the new factions contesting for dominance in Malaysia.

The MOW is completely unplayable but they can be interacted with actively. However, if anyone destroys any of their assets the MOW will put a bounty, causing other players to earn gold for every responsible players' units.

Units & Items Sold
The MOW offers unconventional war machines and questionable weapon technologies to anyone willing to pay in gold. Below is the list of units and items sold as of version 1.3.

"Apocalypse" Ultra-Heavy Tank
A monstrous twin-barrelled tank 'acquired' from a secret stockyard. It is believed this is a prototype from an abandoned Soviet Battle Laboratory in Europe.

APU Prototype Battle Suit
An armoured personnel unit 'delivered' to MOW's inventory. This is not a robot, it is a suit of armour for any physically fit individuals to control.

Mi-88 "Roc" Tankopter
The Russian engineers finally did it. They have managed to manufacture a vehicle which combines the firepower of a tank and the maneuverability of a helicopter.

V5 Missile Launcher
A lumbering ICBM launcher with unlimited range. Nukes sold separately.

Rabies Virus Vial
A vial containing a deadly INHV virus hybrid which may start a zombie apocalypse.

Dirty Bomb
A biological weapon which is super effective against infantry.

EMP Bomb
Overloads and destroys all vehicles with this Matrix-inspired electromagnetic pulse bomb.

Black Market Nuclear Device
In case you need nukes, MOW supplies defective nukes.

Trivia
  • The MOW is influenced by the Merchant of Menace operated by the Russian Mafia in Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction. The startup founder is a typical gamer.
  • The Black Market Nuclear Device sold by MOW was purportedly used by the Brotherhood in the Daub Disaster, which sparked WWIII. No receipt or sales record can be used to prove this accusation.
  • You can destroy the MOW Trucks which will permanently disable MOW Shops, but the MOW will place a bounty on you and your units' heads throughout the game.
  • Several units and items never made it into the final release of version 1.3;
    • MOW Blimp - A flying dirigible which was intended to move unhindered around the map to serve as a mobile shop itself, removed due bugs and was replaced by the MOW Trucks.
    • Flak Tank - A futuristic prototype anti-air tank with mounted quad-cannons and heat seeking rockets, removed due to balance issue.
    • Tiger Tank - An actual German Nazi tank, removed because there is already another WWII-era tank the T-34 of the Socialist Faction but mostly because the Apocalypse Tank made it redundant. Sorry tank fans.
    • BSOD - An item which when used will cause the player's enemies to see an actual Windows Blue Screen of Death while disabling their controls for a few seconds, removed due to buggy execution but was replaced by the EMP Bomb.
  • The MOW has been slotted to make an appearance in Risk Malaysia II.
